VA Bonus Entitlement
A VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is an official document issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that verifies a veteran’s, active-duty service member’s, or eligible surviving spouse’s entitlement to VA home loan benefits. It confirms that the individual meets the service requirements to use a VA loan and shows any portion of entitlement that has already been used. The COE can be obtained online through the VA’s website at VA.gov by signing into your account, through the eBenefits portal, or by working with an approved VA lender (Me) who can request it electronically on your behalf.

A toll-free consumer hotline is available at 1-877-276-5550. The department maintains a recovery fund to make payments of certain actual out of pocket damages sustained by borrowers caused by acts of licensed mortgage banker residential mortgage loan originators. A written application for reimbursement from the recovery fund must be filed with and investigated by the department prior to the payment of a claim.
